Puppy to Adolescent - Get it right from the start

Puppy and Adolescent Dog Training - Malmesbury, Tetbury, North Wiltshire, Cotwolds and beyond.

Bringing a puppy home is exciting and often more overwhelming than people expect. Raising a puppy well is about far more than teaching a few skills. Professional support can start before you even bring puppy home. Setting yourself up from the start to manage those first few days (download our free guide below on managing the first few nights)

Puppies can be enthusiastic, sensitive, easily overstimulated, or highly motivated by the world around them. Not to mention the crate training, toilet training, biting, jumping and barking

Without guidance, those natural responses can show up as:

  • difficulty settling
  • frustration or nerves on lead
  • big reactions to distractions
  • uncertainty about how much is “enough”

Our role is to help you get through those puppy blues and shape those early responses into calm, adaptable behaviour before unhelpful patterns start to form.

Puppy PRO covers all bases from puppy basics, routines and socialisation - to recall, loose lead, good manners and managing the world’s distractions.

The Puppy PRO PLAN follows a three-stage framework that matches how dogs actually grow and learn. Whether you are just bringing puppy home, in the first few weeks or in the throws of adolescence. We will find the right stage and plan for you.

Let’s Talk PuppyPRO plan

THE PLAN IS FOR YOU

Pups Don’t Develop in a Straight Line

Puppies and adolescent dogs move through distinct developmental phases. What’s appropriate at 10 weeks is very different at 4 months, 6 months or 12 months.

Trying to rush ahead — or repeating the same approach at every stage — often creates confusion for both dog and owner.

“This plan is for you if…”

  • You want to feel confident you’re doing the right things at the right time
  • You value structure and ongoing guidance, not one-off sessions
  • You’ve chosen an active, capable, or higher-drive and you know they need more
  • You want to understand adolescence, not just the puppy stage
  • You want to build strong recall, loose lead walking, calm behaviour and thoughtful soicialisation
  • You’re willing to learn and apply guidance consistently

“This plan may not be right if…”

  • You’re only looking for basic obedience
  • You want a quick fix or one-off solution
  • You don’t want to fully understand your dog’s development

Puppies and young dogs aren’t meant to be easy — but with the right input, they can be a pleasure to live with.
